Michael Lucas BSc

Land and New Homes Director

Michael has spent nearly a decade working for the planning department of Lucas Design. He oversees an extremely broad spectrum of projects ranging from; bespoke listed extensions through to housing developments consisting of 50 or more units. In conjunction with Hamish Watson (RTPI), Michael leads all the applications for any new developments that Lucas Design undertakes and is involved in the entire process to ensure that it is carried out efficiently and to a high standard. Michael oversees all negotiations and appraisals relating to land acquisitions and architectural planning. Starting with the initial negotiations with land owners, viability studies and valuations, liaising with legal teams and land purchasing. Due to the excellent relationships Michael and his team have built with local authorities, the planning department enjoys a good success rate for the applicants that they have embarked on.

Jason Quantrill

Lead Land Negotiator

Jason has over 28 years’ experience in the property industry, including over 15 years in land acquisition during which he set up land departments at Sheridan Homes and Wren Homes Plc. He has a proven track record in putting together small and large developments of new homes. Jason’s skills have given him great success in identifying appropriate land and negotiating directly with the owners, cutting out the ‘land agent’ middle-man and thus making significant savings on land purchases.

Ryan Godfrey

Architectural Technologist

Ryan joined Lucas Design in early 2015 after graduating from university in 2013 with a first class honours degree in Architectural Technology. Previously he has spent time working on high-end residential projects in Wimbledon and has developed an array of skills from CGI modelling conceptual design and production of technical drawings and working drawing packages. As well as being able to competently produce the fundamentals of an architectural designer his meticulous approach and careful collaboration of innovative design and technical intelligence can be noted as his most valuable assets.

Chris Podd

Land Negotiator

Christopher obtained a degree in Real Estate Management from Kingston University in June of 2013 and has since worked client-side in site acquisitions for Pret a Manger and agency-side for Strutt and Parker in their development team focusing on residential development throughout the South East. Christopher joined Lucas Design in 2014 and specialises in the acquisitions of both greenfield and brownfield sites.

James Elton

Assistant Land Buyer

James recently joined the Land & Development team at Lucas Design to work alongside Jason Quantrill as an assistant land buyer, covering acquisitions in Surrey Berkshire and Hampshire. James identifies land for potential development by analysing sites, appraisals and land values. Working closely alongside the other members of the land and development team as well as liaising with land owners to discuss the potential of their land. James hopes to forge a long and successful career here at Lucas Design and gain a greater understanding of land development and the planning system.

Eliot Jauregui

Architectural Designer

Eliot came to work for Lucas Design after successfully completing a honours degree in Interior Architecture and Design. Working on a spectrum of projects Eliot bridges the gap between interior and exterior architecture to ensure that the design space of a project is optimised and can accommodate any and all complex structural, environmental and servicing matters. Focusing mainly on the planning drawings for Lucas Design, Eliot ensures that each project’s drawings are completed to the highest standard and in a time efficient manner so that the best possible outcome can be achieved in the planning stages of a development. Eliot also has highly developed skills in 3D rendering software and Photoshop and has proved to be an integral part of the Lucas Design team.

Colin Begeman

Town Planner

Colin has over 20 years’ experience working within the planning profession, giving him a firm understanding of current planning policy and legal restrictions. With a strong commercial understanding of land acquisition and strategic land promotion Colin delivers a wide mix schemes of varying unit sizes throughout Kent and Sussex for Lucas Design.
